Elana Walker, CWP Certified Wedding Planner/ Owner
Meeting new people when they are at their happiest point in life is one of the things I truly enjoy about my job. The excitement in the brides eyes to fulfill her desires of having the wedding of her dreams. The groom, proud as a peacock, embarking on a new journey in life and stepping into the next phase of manhood, pulls at my heartstrings as I sit and listen to my clients share their dream wedding idea’s with me.
I majored in fashion design in 2000 at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago and that¹s where my love for beautification, style, and design was refined. When I returned to NC I decided to become a certified wedding planner through the American Academy of Wedding Professionals. Becoming a certified wedding planner prepared me to project things that may happen from early in the planning process, catch things in contracts that are not in the best interest of my clients, how to save my clients money, the proper way to plan a wedding and so much more.
“Getting to know my clients and creating an event that represents them is the goal for every couple I work with. It is important for me to get to know my clients and to deliver the wedding of their dreams even if they can’t verbally relay every detail.”
While at UNC Charlotte, I was a member of the Campus Programming Board, the event planners for the campus. That is where I got my passion for event planning. The comedy shows, coffee houses, and concerts I planned excited me. After graduation I took Meeting and Event Planning courses at UNC Charlotte and Meredith College and eventually turned my love for planning into a professional career planning events and conferences for associations. After helping several friends plan their wedding I was bitten with the bug, and decided that I also wanted to work with weddings and joined the Elana Walker Events Team. I think my calm personality, excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail are the biggest assets I brings to the Elana Walker Events team. My favorite part of weddings is seeing plain spaces decorated and turned into breathtaking event spaces.
I am an Army brat born in Texas who’s father settled in Fayetteville, NC after 22 years in the military. I graduated from Fayetteville State University with a degree in Business Administration – Management Information Systems in 2004. I am a “server” by nature and enjoy the planning process. To be able to get a vision from the couple and see it come into fruition is gratifying. love the feeling of being apart of the whole experience and finishing with the satisfaction of saying I helped make it possible. Each event is unique which makes my job a joy to do every time
Im currently pursuing my B.A. Degree in Africana Studies and Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My love for weddings comes from 13 years in the Hospitality industry. I volunteered to help with a wedding and immediately knew that becoming a wedding planner would be my ultimate career goal. I approach each wedding with a caring and attentive heart and I’m grateful that I get to play a part of making each couple’s dream a reality.
